Now, a word from our fake sponsor…

This newsletter is brought to you by Cruises!

Welcome aboard "Cruises," where every moment is memorably mediocre!

At Cruises, we specialize in experiences that are just a tad off. Imagine relaxing in our scenic hot tub, while having an 85-year-old man you don’t know named Richard spill his drink on you twice — talk about making a splash!

Or enjoy our Broadway-style shows, where every night is a new surprise, especially for our actors who might just forget their lines.

See if you can tolerate our comedian for more than 10 minutes! The record on our last cruise was 25 minutes!!!

So, if you're looking for a vacation where you can expect the unexpected and embrace the perfectly imperfect, Cruises is your go-to destination. Because why settle for perfection when you can have so much more go wrong for just a little less?

Red's Burgers

(note: there are a lot of photos coming)

Somewhere between the fake ad for cruises above and the awesome pictures below is my experience over the last 10 days.

On our last full day in Alaska, we had time to kill before our train from Seward to Anchorage.

We decided to eat our way around Seward’s top spots, and I fell in love with one spot in particular: Red’s Burgers.

ohhhh was there more…

The food was very good. Nothing crazy. The vibes are what I loved. And most of the vibes were signs.

Red’s Signs

To paint the picture, this is what the walls looked like inside the ordering hut.

Free books for children? Everybody wins.

One sign caught my eye first…

It was probably because it said “69,” which is nice. But reading it, I found a message that resonated deeply.

Reality is subjective.

my eyes went to the all caps THINK next. I attempted to find a flaw in one of the acronym’s rows, but could not.

Imagine if every human would THINK before they speak!

Next seeing this one, I did see a flaw. I agree that one’s attitude is influenced by who they’re interacting with, but it’s also influenced by one’s own attitude.

Hooray for partially agreeing and disagreeing on something without having to be polarized to right or wrong!

These last two deserve to be together.

Transmuting life’s challenges into my growth experiences, remaining optimistic, always seeing the bright side…so much comes through in these.

The seating for restaurant patrons was on this bus. Brought me back to 6th grade real quick…

This time, the difference was I sat next to the girl I have a crush on.

+ Photos from Alaska!

More cool photos from my trip. I’ll spare you the things that are cool in person but look meh in non-professional pictures, which are most natural things and wildlife.

Feel free to skip to Funny Biz.

Socializing Alaskan Husky puppies

Summer dog sledding

Bald Eagle’s nest…I am one of those two things.

Lastly, watch the thrilling 20-second video to see if I won the $500 prize in the “Slot Tournament” on the cruise!

📊 Community Poll

Results for last week’s question: How do you typically grocery shop?

Click to enbiggen

I wish there was a way for nuiance without having like 40 poll options. I walk every aisle at small groccers (Trader Joe’s), but just go straight to my list at big groccers because I don’t need another 64 pack of Celsius Xtreme from the “Water” aisle.

What other readers are saying…

Two different strategies from Parth C. and Charlene C. here. Though to be fair, calling friends is much more fun than running into fucking Gary who wants to tell you about his son’s mayoral campaign.

This one is from my dad who I’ve never seen in a grocery store in my life. Brazen lies!

On to this week’s question…

How you can help me:

I’ve hosted a few virtual trivia nights before on Zoom, thinking about doing one for newsletter readers. Think of typical pub trivia, just from home. Would you be interested? I need to see >20 people interested to make it happen!
